Introduction
SBR Rubber Sheet
SBR rubber sheets are made from a blend of natural and styrene-butadiene rubber SBR. Styrene Butadiene Rubber is a general purpose rubber sheet commonly used in gasket and sealing applications where oil resistance is not required.
SBR rubber is an economical, non-oily compound that resists flow under compression. The product moderate to good low pressure properties with good aging, abrasion and tear resistance.
SBR rubber sheets are recommended for low pressure applications such as gaskets and seal in the heating and plumbing industry. Low cost flange gasket material easily adapts to uneven flange surfaces.
Styrene-butadiene rubber sheets (SBR) have properties similar to natural rubber, but with greater resistance to abrasion, wear and water. It is a non-oil resistant, low cost material that can be used in the production of several rubber products.
This rubber is suitable for use in various mediums that are not subject to chemically aggressive environments. SBR is considered suitable for production of gaskets, mats, amortization parts, and for elimination of friction between metal surfaces.
However, SBR compounds are not suitable for applications that involve chemicals, ozone, strong acids, oils, grease, and most hydrocarbons. Typical applications include wear strip and impact pads in production lines, grommets and cable seals, and applications where bonding to substrates is required.
In one form the compound is even used in the production of chewing gum. The SBR rubber sheet has good properties, some of which are superior to natural rubber (NR). It has very good abrasion resistance.
Typically supplied on the roll, SBR rubber sheeting can be cut into sheets, strips or gaskets. Often used instead of natural rubber, SBR rubber compounds are more resilient and have greater tolerance to lower temperatures – perfect for wear strip and impact pads in production lines; grommets and cable seals; and other applications where bonding to substrates is required.
